“Pay for your crown with the blood of your enemies and the tears of their loved ones.”
Dumat is one of The Nine Gods. God of avarice and glory. Think of a honey badger, but in god form. Worship is held in “temples” where tales of your ruthlessness and bloodlust are recounted, which in many cases comes to a bragging contest. It is encouraged to decide who is the strongest by combat during a “service”. Dumat teaches that others are tools to be exploited, and once they’re no longer useful, get rid of them. Glorify yourself, take what you want, and give none of it away. He is worshiped by most pirates, but his true faithful are The Border Lords and many of The Aurorans. His symbol is a crescent of pointed teeth.
Dumat is also known as the Hungry Maw, Master of Pillagers, and the Black King.
Priests of Dumat specialize in magic that destroys living flesh.
Temples are tall open buildings decorated with bones of all kinds. Stairs lead up to the different tiers of the building. Each tier is a four-foot ring with a short lip so that the faithful can see the others in attendance and view the bottom level, where arguments and fights take place.
